The ECE Sussex studio is seeking a talented and motivated Residential Architect to join our growing team. This role is ideally suited to an architect with experience working on medium to large-scale residential and mixed-use developments, particularly across RIBA Stages 0–3.
You will play an important role in shaping residential schemes from early concept through to planning, working within a collaborative team environment and contributing to the design and delivery of thoughtful, well-considered places.

Position overview
As a Residential Architect at ECE, you will work closely with experienced colleagues across architecture and planning teams to develop residential schemes from concept through to planning submission.
The role will involve contributing to site appraisals, developing layouts and design strategies, preparing planning packages and collaborating with clients, consultants and internal teams. You will be supported by a collaborative studio culture that values design quality, knowledge sharing and professional development.
Essential qualifications and experience
To be considered for this position, you should meet the following criteria:
- ARB registered Architect
- Experience working on medium to large-scale residential projects from inception through to achieving planning consent
- A good understanding of residential layout design within housing-led schemes
- Proficiency in industry-standard software, such as AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite
- Revit experience is beneficial but not essential
- Strong conceptual and design skills, with the ability to think creatively and critically
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with colleagues and clients
- Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem solving
- Knowledge of planning and Building Regulation requirements

The studio is conveniently located within a short walk of Worthing and East Worthing train station and there is free parking within a 15-minute walk.
