ECE Architecture
Trinity Gables delivers 35 homes and ground-floor commerce, approved by the South Downs National Park through meticulous design and planning.
In Lewes, Trinity Gables merges design ambition with planning precision. The project articulates distinctive roof forms at the skyline, echoes the historic townscape, and delivers a fabric-first approach that supports low-energy operation and a resilient, community-focused development.

Our design response creates a coherent massing with top-edged roof features that reference local chimney forms, establishing a strong identity. Working closely with Generator Group, we secured RIBA Stages 0-3, aligning planning strategy with sustainability targets and delivering accessible private amenity spaces, a communal roof terrace, and enhanced public realm with new trees and pathways.
Key challenges included balancing heritage sensitivities within the South Downs National Park context and achieving energy targets. We addressed these through iterative design reviews, early stakeholder engagement, and rigorous testing of fabric performance. The result is a well-considered scheme that satisfies regulatory requirements while delivering a memorable, place-responsive form.

A holistic approach linked design and delivery: refined façade articulation, brick detailing, and careful roof treatment that integrates with the surrounding architecture. Public realm improvements were planned to boost permeability and greenery, supporting biodiversity and community interaction. The project also demonstrates our capability to coordinate energy strategy, renewable sources, and efficient heating within a mixed-use framework.
Trinity Gables showcases how thoughtful design, robust planning, and sustainable delivery can shape a distinctive Lewes identity while delivering practical, enduring value for residents and the town.
