Doug Stewart leads ECE Impact, ECE Architecture’s consultancy for Community Engagement, Social Value, and Communications. With over 20 years’ experience in placemaking, public engagement, and strategic communications, he brings a people-first approach to shaping projects that deliver meaningful, long-term impact.
Doug specialises in connecting people and place; blending local insight, public relations strategy, and social value frameworks to support inclusive, sustainable development. His work is guided by a belief in win-win-win outcomes: delivering benefits for communities, for clients, and for the environment.
With a strong track record in climate resilience, environmental and built heritage, and social enterprise, Doug continues to develop innovative engagement strategies that align with ESG goals and promote cross-disciplinary collaboration.
Outside of ECE, Doug has founded several nationally recognised social ventures; including the UK’s first school community fridge, Loop (a food waste-to-compost initiative), and Ding, a mobile bike repair service; and remains passionate about unlocking local ideas to solve big challenges.
