ECE Planning

ECE Planning was appointed by Matsim Properties Limited to provide planning consultancy services for the restoration and redevelopment of the historic Brighton Hippodrome.

The Hippodrome, once a vibrant part of Brighton’s cultural fabric, had fallen into a derelict state over many years. The project aims to sensitively transform the building into a performance venue, alongside an apart-hotel and bar, ensuring the site can once again serve the community while preserving its historic character.

Urgent structural repairs were carried out to stabilise the building and to restore the historic dome, making the Hippodrome once again accessible to the public.

ECE Planning provided assistance in gaining planning permission and listed building consent, with the building’s heritage remaining a key priority throughout the process. This has included a number of amendment applications to facilitate works on site and alterations to the layout and function of the scheme.

ECE Planning have worked collaboratively with Brighton and Hove City Council and continue to do so in order to bring this long neglected City landmark back to life.
