ECE Planning
ECE Planning secured full planning permission for the redevelopment of Mill Nursery in Hassocks, West Sussex, delivering a high-quality residential scheme that responds sensitively to its semi-rural context. The approved and now completed development includes three barn-style four-bedroom dwellings set around a shared landscaped courtyard, with a fourth contemporary farmhouse-style home replacing the existing bungalow at the rear of the site.
The scheme includes associated parking, amenity space, and extensive landscaping to reinforce local character and ensure privacy between plots.
An earlier application for the site was refused in 2019. ECE Planning were appointed in 2020 to review the decision, engage with the local planning authority, and lead on a revised approach. Through detailed analysis of the refusal reasons and proactive design development, a revised proposal was submitted that successfully addressed previous concerns, securing officer support and planning approval.
This project highlights ECE Planning’s ability to unlock complex sites through strategic thinking and a design-led approach.
