ECE Planning
Tate Residences is a striking nine-storey mixed-use development, forming Phase 1 of the masterplan for the County Ground in Hove, home to Sussex County Cricket Club. Designed in collaboration with ECE Architecture, the scheme draws inspiration from the white cliffs of Sussex and local architectural landmarks, including the Van Alen building and the art deco Embassy Court.
Replacing a pub and industrial units, the completed building delivers 37 luxury apartments, a basement car park, and 1,757m² of commercial space for a new bar/restaurant and offices. The wider masterplan creates a more visible and welcoming arrival experience for the cricket grounds, while unlocking capital receipts to fund future phases.

ECE Planning led on all planning aspects, from masterplan strategy and detailed site appraisal to pre-application engagement, public consultation, and successful planning consent. Sustainability was central to the design, achieving a BREEAM Excellent rating and exceeding Building Regulations. Initiatives include solar panels, heat recovery, underfloor heating, electric car charging, and a residents’ travel plan to encourage sustainable transport.
Tate Residences showcases ECE Planning’s expertise in delivering complex, design-led urban regeneration.
